There has been a lot of talk around Kangana Ranaut‘s next film Simran. She was dragged into a controversy when the writer of the film Apurva Asrani alleged that Kangana stole his ideas and was given the writer’s credit first even though she was an additional writer on the film. There was a lot of back and forth between him and the makers of the film but it looks like that’s all been solved now as the credits have been placed properly.

At the launch of her trailer, Kangana spoke about a rather scary incident when her cab driver fell asleep on the highway.

A funny thing happened while driving on a street in America, my driver passed out, he banged into the side walk and then we took him to the hospital. It took me a lot of time to recover from this trauma.

It’s definitely not funny but we can only imagine how harrowing the whole experience must’ve been for her and her crew. Thankfully, they were rushed to the hospital immediately and were taken to the hospital for checkups.

Shahid Kapoor & Alia Bhatt

Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt won several awards for their incredible performance in Udta Punjab. They deservedly swept away almost all the awards & accolades, because if not for both Alia and Shahid’s acting finesse, the film wouldn’t have been half as fabulous as it was.

While Shahid was already on board for the role of Tommy Singh, he was the one who felt Alia was perfect to play the role of the village girl without a name. At the recently held Big Zee awards, Shahid revealed that he was pretty sure Alia was the ideal choice for the role. Not just that, he even slyly passed on the script of the film to her. He persisted Alia to come on board for the film and it took almost a year to get her nod. Since Alia was busy with other films around that time, Shahid gave her as much time as she needed to get done with her pending projects.

And voila! The result is for everyone to see. Udta Punjab is undoubtedly one of the best films in Bollywood and also one of the toughest in Shahid and Alia’s career.

P.S – Shahid was right, Alia was indeed the perfect choice for the role!

Kangana Ranaut is undoubtedly one of the feistiest actresses we have in Bollywood. She’s brutally honest and doesn’t hesitate to voice her opinion on matters that might land her in trouble. Case in point here: The nepotism controversy, which all started when she accused Karan Johar of being the flag-bearer of nepotism in Bollywood. The comment didn’t go down too well with him and there was a lot mudslinging between the two. Karan even went on say that if Kangana doesn’t like how it is and if she has that much of a problem, she can leave.

That one episode brought the topic of nepotism to the fore. Everyone from Shah Rukh Khan to Vidya Balan gave their two cents on the matter. While star kids continue to say that they have an enormous amount of pressure on them (which is true), Ranbir Kapoor agreed to the fact that he’s a product of nepotism. The important thing happening here is that people are now coming forward and talking about privilege, some even acknowledging it – something which was previously ignored.

At the recently held trailer launch of Simran, Kangana was asked how she feels about all the controversies she’s been embroiled in. Here’s what she said,

My journey has been quite different. While flying to Mumbai for the conference, I was thinking about all sorts of questions that would be asked to me here. So, I thought that has my journey really been unusual or is it only me who thinks that way? But the one aspect that is striking about it is that I have to fight for everything in life, even the smallest of the things. I get things only after I fight for them. Now, I don’t know why it happens. Maybe it is my destiny but I have made peace with it. It has become the norm of my life so I don’t have a problem with that. A lot of you might think, ‘to be or not to be’ but it’s okay or like you guys use the word rebel, ladaku. I don’t take offence to that. It is good how it is. but it is okay. But I will take what is mine, be it by fighting or any other means.

After the failure of Jagga Jasoos at the box-office, the film’s lead actor Ranbir Kapoor‘s father Rishi Kapoor had gone on a rant against filmmaker Anurag Basu. The veteran star had even dissed music director Pritam for his delayed delivery of the film’s music. At the trailer launch of the Sanjay Dutt-starrer Bhoomi, RK Jr. was asked about his father’s statements. He asserted that he doesn’t agree with his dad’s remarks. Ranbir said:

My father is a very emotional man. I think whatever he said was to protect me, from where he was coming. I don’t necessarily agree with what he did or what he said. Like I said, Jagga Jasoos is something that we’ve worked on for three and a half years. We all were aware of what we were doing and what was being made. Sometimes you succeed sometimes you fail. I don’t look at it (Jagga Jasoos) as a failure, I look at it as a learning. I think it has given me a lot, the experience of working with Anurag Basu and everyone on the film. So yes, I can’t answer for someone else, but I don’t necessarily agree with it.

Ranbir was at the event accompanying Dutt as he will be playing the later in an upcoming biopic and hence, is spending a lot of time shadowing the actor.

Our man was on an episode of EIC Vs Bollywood recently and among very many funny stories and jokes, Arjun shared an old incident where he was mistaken for Aditya Roy Kapur.

So I was in Goa for Finding Fanny, so I was in my full element and Two States and Gunday just released. I was shopping and there was this guy who kept staring at me. I said ‘Okay, come’ so he came. He was like “Sir, I want to put my arm around you.” I said, “Okay fine.” Then he became very intimate. So I was like “Okay fine”. It’s Goa. What do you do now? And then he took a photo from four-five angles. And then he said, “Thank you, sir! I loved your work in Aashiqui 2.

He added:

But that’s a nice slap on your face. Like son, there is still a long way to go in life.

Deepika Padukone is really the best. She’s one of the finest actresses in our country, she’s stunning and she absolutely loves her fans. Her fans are rockstars though. I mean they literally know each and everything about their favourite actress. Fardeen Khan and his wife Natasha became parents for the second time. The two have been married for more than a decade and they’re understandably overjoyed on such a wonderful occasion. Their son was born on Friday and the actor took to Twitter to announce the birth of his child. The couple have named the child Azarius Fardeen Khan.

Are Kajol and Karan Johar best friends again? Well, we don’t know about that yet, but the icy vibes between the two are definitely thawing. Apparently, the Instagram photo wasn’t the first time Kajol has seen the twins. As per Rajeev Masand‘s column, an insider said that shortly after Yash and Roohi came home, she had received a picture of them and had responded very sweetly.

Kajol said that the little boy, Yash, reminded her of Karan’s late father Yash Johar after whom he was named.

Ekta Kapoor backed up Lipstick Under My Burkha, a typically offbeat film which was facing a lot of difficulties due to its controversial plot. Not only did the film see the light of the day because of Ekta, a lot of her celeb friends hugely contributed to the film’s promotions.

Ex- CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani eventually ordered the film to be released – but not without some 27 odd cuts. Quite obviously, the makers were enraged as those cuts were essential to the film and not portraying anything out of the ordinary. Similarly for Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, producer Kiran Shroff had to suffer a lot of humiliation at the hands of the board. Her husband and director Kushan Nandy reportedly gave a written complaint against Mr. Nihalani and other members to the I&B Ministry for misbehaving with his wife during the screening of their film.

The tyranny is finally over as Prasoon Joshi has taken over as the CBFC chief. However, if recent reports are to believed, Mr. Nihalani’s ouster had a little something to do with #BossLady Ekta Kapoor. As we all know, Ekta has a long association with Smriti Irani, the new Information & Broadcasting Minister. Their friendship goes back 17 years when Smriti starred as Tulsi Virani in Ekta’s iconic soap, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

When Lipstick Under My Burkha was attacked by the CBFC for being too “women oriented”, Ekta expressed her displeasure to Smriti, who in turn sacked Nihalani. We don’t know how much of truth there is in these reports, but if this is true – thank you Ekta! You have done us all a huge favour.

Regressive mentality will finally take a backseat and we’ll finally know what happens behind those flowers.

Rajkummar Rao is one of the most talented actors we have  in Bollywood right now. Take one look at his filmography and the movies he’s got lined up for this year and you’ll know it’s his time to shine. And shine he did in Trapped! Pahlaj Nihalani has finally been replaced as the CBFC chief after the constant criticism he received for his efforts to make movies more “sanskari“. As a last duty he executed, Mr. Nihalani has chopped a certain kissing scene from Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez‘s A Gentleman.

According to a report in BL, the kiss was apparently too long. CBFC reportedly asked the film’s co-directors Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru to curtail the lead pair’s long smooch. The report also quoted a source saying that:

The lead pair’s kiss just went on and on unnecessarily, just like the smooch in the James Bond film and Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. We’ve asked them to take it easy. The film is titled A Gentleman, but the hero seems to forget his manners while kissing.

Umm. Okay!

Jacqueline Fernandez

The report ordered the kiss to be edited by nearly 70% and also asked the makers to remove an English language expletive before granting the film a U/A certificate. Moreover, the pole dance sequence for which Jacqueline worked pretty hard was also half omitted to obtain a U/A certificate.

Looks like he made the last cut before finally leaving. For good.

Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar‘s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha just released and the it has been solely responsible for being Bollywood’s saving grace at the box office this month. After a string of flops and not-so-loved Bollywood films with some of the biggest names, Akshay’s film has been hugely appreciated by the audience. The film is essentially a love story but touches on one of the biggest needs of the hour in India – toilets and sanitation. Hopefully, this will help bring about a change.

It looks like one of the hottest couples in Bollywood have called it quits. According to many reports, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra have broken up. Although, the two have never officially confirmed their relationship, they have often been spotted at each other’s house, on dates and arriving together at parties. But, there have also been reports in the past about their break-up. A source apparently told DNA that it looks like this time, the problems are permanent. Here’s what the source has to say –

Sidharth and Alia have split, and unlike previous instances, this time, it seems permanent. They will not get back together again. They are avoiding each other and are not even on talking terms now. Maybe with time, they will get back to being friends, but for now they are maintaining a distance from each other. They were having a lot of fights in the recent times. Mutually, they decided it wasn’t working out and it was better to end it.

Rumours of Sidharth’s apparent closeness to his A Gentleman Jacqueline Fernandez was also considered one of the many reasons for the couple’s break-up, but that sounds more like a publicity stunt for the movie. Anyway, we hope Alia and Sidharth sort out their problems soon.

Bahubali: The Conclusion has been the most successful Indian movie this year. Needless to say, the film’s hero Prabhas has become a superstar across the country. His next film, after the Bahubali series is Saaho and everyone is excited to see him in a different avatar. After reports of many actresses being approached for the film, it’s confirmed that Sharaddha Kapoor will be seen as his heroine.

She even tweeted about the big news today –

We’re sure they’ll look rather nice together. Interestingly, Prabhas’s paycheck for this movie has been in the news, and as per various reports, his remuneration is as much as the Khans in Bollywood. According to articles on DNA and Mid-Day, Prabhas is being paid Rs. 30 crore for Saaho.

The actor did make around Rs.20-25 crore for the two Bahubali movies, but this is definitely a big jump. Talking about payments, the same reports suggest that Sharaddha will be getting Rs. 9 crores for her role. Basically, Prabhas is making three times more money than Shraddha.
